200 mL Agarose gel 0.6% preparation

Materials

Procedure

  1. Weigh 1.2g agarose on the scale
  1. Add 2mL 50x TAE buffer stock solution to 200mL DI water to dilute it 100 times.
  1. Mix diluted TAE buffer and agarose in Erlenmeyer flask

- Use gloves if Erlenmeyer flask has been used with GelRed before.

  1. Melt the agarose in a microwave (up to 1.5 minutes on highest effect), stir after 45 seconds

- Use heat protective glove!

- Make sure the agarose is completely melted

  1. Place flask in ice box with water to cool down agarose to around 50°C
  1. Add 10µL GelRed to melted agarose and stir

- Use gloves when handling anything that has been in contact with GelRed.

  1. Pour agarose into a mold, make sure that it is level and that there are no bubbles.
  1. Let the gel solidify for at least 30 minutes on the bench
