Introduction

The recipe below is used to prepare a 1L of  PBS solution (10X)

Materials

  • NaCl
    • KCl
      • Na2HPO4
        • KH2PO4
          • Distilled water

          Procedure

          1. Weigh out 80g of NaCl, 2g of KCl, 14.4g of Na2HPO4 and 2.4g of KH2PO4 and add it to a 1L bottle.
          1. Measure out approximately 900mL of distilled water and add to the bottle.
          1. Dissolve the reagents by adding a magnetic flea into the bottle and placing on a magnetic stirrer.
          1. Adjust the pH to 7.4 with hydrochloric acid (HCl) or NaOH solution.
          1. Top up the solution to 1L with distilled water.
          1. To sterilise, autoclave the solution on a liquid cycle (20 min at 15 psi).
          1. Store PBS at room temperature (+15ºC – +25ºC) or in the fridge (+4ºC).
